We are pharmacists who have a tremendous respect for the traditional medical community. We also believe that traditional medicine may not provide all the answers. This belief we have can be traced back over 20 years to a time when we were becoming somewhat disillusioned by traditional medicine's lack of interest in the overall wellness of the individual.
Led by our desire to find something better, we began to search all sorts of alternative health care available. This type of medicine might be called "complementary health care" or "integrative health care". This market was growing rapidly; and most of what we found was quite frankly, disappointing. Many companies entering into this new industry were profit-motivated resulting in low-quality, untested and often harmful products.
It was difficult to find any company that was even manufacturing their own product line. This included the pharmaceutical companies that were entering the field of nutritional supplementation. We continued to search and ultimately found Shaklee Corporation. Shaklee was a well-financed company (able to afford a strong research and development division), and quite steeped in science. This is what we had been looking for.a company that satisfied both our scientific backgrounds and our desire to be on the cutting edge of this newly developing industry. We found that Shaklee was a New York Stock Exchange-Fortune 500 Company recognized as one of the leading health care companies at that time.
During the 20 years since then, Shaklee Corporation joined forces for a period of time with one of the Japan's leading pharmaceutical companies Yamanouchi Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. That joint venture took Shaklee into the arena of diagnostic preventive health care, and resulted in the formation of several high-tech nutraceutical entities. For one such product, NutriFeron, Shaklee owns the world's marketing rights.
Shaklee is owned by a young entrepreneur Roger Barnett. Mr. Barnett and his family have been very successful and have experience managing businesses in international global consumer marketing and the pharmaceutical, cosmetics, direct marketing and direct selling industries. The Barnett family spent $20 million investigating the network marketing industry and its major players before acquiring Shaklee. The long-term goal of Shaklee is to expand into 50 foreign countries within the next 10 years, and they are well on their way to achieving that goal.
In October, 2007 a Landmark Clinical Study was published that showed the effects of long-term nutritional supplementation with Shaklee products compared to people who do not use Shaklee products. Long-term Shaklee Nutritional Supplement users enjoyed remarkably better health when compared to the general population. In all areas Shaklee products offer the quality demanded by discerning people at a tremendous value.
We are personally very pleased that over 20 years ago we chose to align ourselves with the Shaklee team. Because of that choice, we and many of our business partners have enjoyed a lifestyle that has exceeded our wildest dreams. We were both able to leave the high-stress/limited-income jobs that we had as pharmacists to go to work for us! We now live where we want to live, do what we want to do when we want to do it. Today we can offer our clients a way to address all areas of health and wellness including financial health and wellness.
